Says Ulster County Tourism Director Rick Remsnyder, “Ulster County’s courses are so diverse that visitors never become bored playing golf here. If a golfer likes mountain resort courses, he or she will be thrilled golfing at the Fallsview at the Honor’s Haven Resort and Spa, the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa in Kerhonkson and the nine-hole course at the Mohonk Mountain House, the latter located at the top of the mountains near the lovely college town of New Paltz. There’s great risk-reward potential when one tees it up at Rondout, which has lots of water and some reachable par-fives if a golfer is brave enough to avoid the peril. Apple Greens Golf Course is cut right out of an apple orchard.”
Rondout Golf Club, a scenic 18-hole semi-private course in Accord, is located halfway between Kingston and Ellenville is known for its excellent conditioning.
Apple Greens Golf Course in Highland can easily accommodate any number of golfers since it expanded to 27 holes nearly a decade ago. It is located just five minutes from the New Paltz Exit on the New York State Thruway, making it an enticing trip for golfers from New York City and central and northern New Jersey who don’t mind driving more than an hour because there is no waiting and a quick pace of play.
Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club Village in Saugerties, an 18-hole layout just minutes from the Saugerties Exit off the New York State Thruway, is the newest addition to the grand collection of Ulster County courses.
