One of the most dynamic clubs in New Jersey, Hopewell Valley Golf and Country Club, is celebrating its 90th Anniversary Oct. 7 from 3 to 9 p.m. with activities and fun for the whole family. The Hopewell and Pennington communities are invited to join the celebration.
From 3 to 5 p.m. the club with host free family-focused activities for children and adults. There will be a bouncy house and Golfzilla, a giant inflatable with targets for golf balls. Free Cream King ice cream and cotton candy will be available for the kids.
At the same time, golfers can step back in time with a 9-hole “heritage” game of golf with fun formats including a hickory-shafted club contest. The fee for the nine holes, including cart, per person is $35 for non-members, $20 for members.
At 5 pm, David Blackwell, local historian, will discuss the role the golf course has played in Hopewell history. From 5 to 6:30 pm, there will be tastings of beer from River Horse Brewing Company, wines from Hopewell Valley Vineyards, and spirits from Sourland Mountain Spirits distillery.
From 6:30 pm to 9 pm, participants can enjoy live jazz and a farm to table dinner prepared by Chef John Goeke and his team using a variety of local flavors and ingredients. Tickets are limited and are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. A cash bar will also be available. A portion of the event’s proceeds will support the Hopewell Historical Society.

Hopewell Valley Golf and Country Club is a private club offering limited public access, and is located in rural Hopewell Township. Built on the banks of the Stony Brook, facilities and services include golf, tennis, swimming, paddle tennis, and other activities for members, guests, families, and friends. For dining and libations, the Baron Dillon Bar & Grille, and Hopewell Ballroom for special occasions, are open to the public.
The club is also offering several membership specials this fall. Join now for 2018 and play the rest of 2017 as well. A $750 deposit will go toward the 2018 initiation fee with the balance of the fee being waived. There will be no monthly dues until Mar. 1.
