The course at Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vt. is considered challenging yet fair.
A perfect example of this balance is the layout’s second hole, a 510-yard par-five from the tips. Big hitters can blast driver and then go for the green in two shots. But the safer, and perhaps wiser, play may be a steady three shots to find the green. You will find choices confronting you on almost every hole at Sugarbush, and the layout demands a thoughtful approach on every shot. Just don’t lose concentration by gazing too long at the countryside and mountains that surround the track.
Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the course at Sugarbush Resort with a natural feel, allowing the course to unfold with the beauty that pervades this area of upper New England. The course is a 6,464-yard, par-72 layout that opened in 1961, and rolls along the hilltops of the Mad River Valley.
Located in the Green Mountains, Sugarbush Resort and Golf Course provides an ideal setting for an all-inclusive sporting getaway. The resort is a spring, summer and autumn destination, which means world-class fly fishing, hiking and biking trails, and of, course, the golf course.
Visitors can choose to stay at several locations. The 110-room Clay Brook Hotel and Residences offers luxury slopeside accommodations that range from single rooms to multiple-bedroom suites with full kitchens. The charming 42-room Sugarbush Inn, located just off the hill, has been called a “quintessential” New England inn.
