Summer is a Time for Lots of Golf

We are deep into summer but we have still lots of time to play as much golf as we can. Indeed, we are going into early autumn before long and that season is one of the best times of the year to play; cooler days, great course conditions and greens fee specials.
A fabulous place to play in autumn is in and around Atlantic City. The premier golfing destination in the Northeast is ready to welcome you to a weekend stay and play visit, and if you have the time an even longer respite from the worries of everyday living. Atlantic City features over a dozen splendid golf courses, ranging from the historic to the new age. There are plenty of first class accommodations to be found on the Atlantic City Boardwalk and beyond, and there is plenty to keep you entertained and well fed after golf.

New Jersey-based Applied Golf Management has been acquired by Troon, the leading golf and club-related leisure and hospitality company in the world. As part of the acquisition, Troon assumed management of Applied Golf’s portfolio of 13 public and private golf facilities in New York, New Jersey and Florida. Members and guests of Applied Golf-managed facilities will continue to experience “the same outstanding service, course conditions and excellent food and beverage”.

New Jersey’s Forsgate Country Club’s historic Banks Course showcases one of the most distinctive template holes imported from Europe during the Golden Age of golf course architecture in America–the Biarritz. This year marks the 135th anniversary of the famous hole design that presents a unique challenge to golfers. The original Biarritz was created in 1888 by Willie Dunn, Jr. at its namesake club in France. C.B. Macdonald, considered the father of American golf course architecture, and his disciples Seth Raynor and Charles Banks introduced the classic hole design into a number of their most notable projects.

We also find out about the golf and lots of other great things to do in the Dominican Republic, get the lowdown on the new series “Three Courses”, which can be seen weekly on Golf Nation at www.golfnation.com and its Android app.

So, keep swinging and play as much golf as you can during August and September, a truly special time of the year.

Cheers,
Sean Fitzsimmons Publisher
