TPC Sawgrass, Property Improvements Enhance a World-Class Golf Experience

The Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass Hole 6

Home of THE PLAYERS Championship, birthplace of the TPC Network and backdrop to PGA TOUR Headquarters, TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida is one of the world’s most famous golf courses, and following a complete property enhancement project – the largest in its 37-year history – now is the perfect time to plan an unforgettable golf getaway to Florida’s First Coast.

A joint effort between TPC Sawgrass, the PGA TOUR and legendary course architect Pete Dye, renovations launched following THE PLAYERS Championship in 2016 on the Stadium Course, just moments after Jason Day capped off his historic victory. The project team’s goal was to amplify the world-class golf and tournament experiences, from the moment guests arrive on property to the moment they stepped off.

Visitors are now welcomed by a breathtaking view of the majestic, 77,000 square-foot Mediterranean Revival-style Clubhouse – the entryway cleared from obstructions to make it as grand as the Clubhouse itself. The Practice Grounds are designed to create a world-class practice experience, its signature a center wedge target green that includes the traditional Pete Dye design element of the railroad bulk head.  On the course, the greens have been rebuilt and grassed with Tifeagle Bermuda grass for the best putting surfaces; green complexes were widened for new and exciting hole locations; expanded the lake between holes 6 and 7, adding to the front nine’s beauty; and hole 12 is completely redesigned from 360 yards to 302, eliminating the blind tee shot and creating a risk-reward drivable par 4.

Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort and Spa

Largescale renovations continue with the new PGA TOUR’s Performance Center at TPC Sawgrass. Led by world-renowned instructor Todd Anderson, it was upgraded in numerous ways in an effort to make it the leading instructional facility in golf. Among the changes to the structure itself include the addition of a second story, two more hitting bays, a new training/fitness room and expanded club-fitting for players of all skillsets.  The team at the Performance Center focuses on six principles: full-swing, short game, putting, golf fitness, club fitting and playing/performance strategies.  Visit to learn more.

The adjacent Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa offers 514 guest rooms and suites and 61,000 total square feet of meeting space, all set amongst a backdrop of 65 beautiful acres of Audubon-rated grounds. This full-service resort provides the best of all worlds, combining contemporary accommodations, an amazing selection of dining options, world-class spa and 99 holes of privileged access to championship golf. Like its neighbor, the resort recently completed a resort-wide, $25 million “refresh.” Enhancements are seen throughout guest rooms, suites, villas, resort pool area, modernized front desk area, hotel façade, the Sawgrass Spa and Cabana Beach Club. Other exciting facets of the project include a new premium service guest wing, The American Gator Club restaurant and SurfStream experience — the world’s first standing wave machine.
