Now Playing
When I started this Publication over 23 years ago it was in the height of “Tiger Mania”. New courses had been, and continued to, open up all over the county and especially here in New Jersey. It was a very exciting time as the golf industry was anticipating a huge boom in public golf play. As it played out over the years following, the boom never happened and in recent years the trend has been for way more golf courses closing and no new courses opening. That is until now!! For the first time in 20 years a new public course is set to open here in New Jersey. Old Bridge Golf Club at Rose- Lambertson, affectionally called “The Rose”, is set to open this Spring in Old Bridge New Jersey.
The Rose is a partnership with Old Bridge Township and 2020 Acquisitions, with 2020 Acquisitions funding the $15+ million-dollar community project along with an additional $32+M in public infrastructure improvements at no cost to taxpayers.
Some of the highlights:
- Par-71, 18-hole public golf course that offers a fun and fair experience for beginners and challenge to highly skilled players
- Designed by New Jersey-based Stephen Kay, whose golf course architecture firm is based in Egg Harbor City
- Unique layout driven by the existence of wetlands with numerous ponds built to support irrigation and water conservation
- Illuminated miniature golf course and driving range available on a first-come, first-serve basis that allows for night time activities (the club will be open until 10 p.m.)
- 6,000-SF clubhouse featuring a pro shop, concession area, cart barn, restrooms and 110 parking spaces
As Architect Stephen Kay told us. “The Rose is a very special project. The impact it will have on the community, and for golf in Middlesex County, is going to be incredible. I feel very blessed that it happened.”
I for one cannot wait to get out and play this course!!
Spring is here and it is time to hit the Links…get out and play this amazing game!!
Cheers,
